This month we used a few math activities to learn and review addition. These are all from the new Math Guide. Below you can see screenshots from the pdf file we used. She absolutely loved all of the lessons!

For this lesson, the circles were the egg carton and the spheres were the eggs. You can see through the photos how the lesson progressed as we worked on making 10.

After just using the manipulatives for awhile, we then added in the addition fact written on the dry erase board.

She then moved on to doing the activity on paper only, figuring out the missing number to make 10.

For this lesson, we had a stick and 10 “marshmallows” which was a big hit! I told her how many I was going to eat, and then she had to figure out how many she would get.

The lesson got a bit advanced and I wasn’t sure how she would do with it, but she did great! It moved from adding two numbers to adding two and figuring out the missing 3rd number to make ten.

If you get 3, I get 5, then blue bird gets 2! 3+5+2=10!”
